This March was my debut in professional theater as an ensemble member and intern on Shakespeare In Love. I was joined by two of my fellows from Cornish College of the Arts: Zachary Taxdahl and Glen Peak.
As ensemble members we embodied multiple characters. I was a courtier to Queen Elizabeth I, a barmaid and a wench, in this fictionalized London and world of William Shakespeare as created by Marc Newman and Tom Stoppard.

First rehearsal
I have the honor of directing a brand new musical, Miss Bluebell Goes to Rainbow Funland.
Based on a concept by Martha Kathryn Smith. Book by Monika Bauer and Tabitha Card. With music by Tabitha Card, Martha Kathryn Smith and Nicholas Vogl.
Martha Kathryn Smith," The idea for Miss Bluebell stemmed from real life experience. Growing up in a conservative religious environment, I saw people outed against their will - and the repercussions that followed - far too often. The hope in creating a story about that process was to explore who/what is right, wrong, good or evil, in terms of the relationship between religion and homosexuality."
This a Cornish College of the Arts BFA Senior Thesis Project of Monika Bauer, Tabitha Card and Emma Palace. All performances are in Cornish's Main Campus black box theater.
"Miss Bluebell" takes place in the 1970's on a Evangelical Christian Children's Television set. Their lead actor Lorraine Dickenson (Miss Bluebell) has just been outed as gay. The network hustles to cancel the show and before the scandal breaks, they will film one final episode in front of a studio audience sending Miss Bluebell to Rainbow Funland.

I Assistant Directed, James and the Giant Peach.
"At first glance, The Cornish College of the Arts Sophomore Capstone Musical, James and the Giant Peach is a fun, fast paced, song and dance production; full of color characters and imagination. Looking closer, Roald Dahl’s intrinsic and important messages reveal themselves. This team of collaborators have taken ownership of some of these powerful ideas: standing up to trauma, the ability children have to shape the world, and coping with loss and death. This musical is every bit as meaningful now as it was at the novel’s publication in 1961 - the themes of chosen family, accepting differences, and standing up to the evil elements in your life is relevant to the child inside all of us. Thank you for joining us, and enjoy a remark-u-lous-ly fan-tas-ma-rific ride on a magical peach." - Director's Note

Play is essential.
Whether acting, writing, directing, practicing the cello, cooking or traveling -- collaboration is fundamental.
I thrive in creating complex characters who pursue pure connection, but are beautifully fallible. I do not contribute to bucket lists. Each day is about embracing imperfection, failure and success. Because I occasionally lie on the couch, binge watching In Living Color, while eating cheese popcorn, trying not to choke.
Seattle has an established and growing arts community. I will to continue the work I have started at Cornish College of the Arts, which I am now an alum! I look forward to collaborating with you. Contact me HERE.
